This is a fantastic opportunity to perform important work in the very critical area of reporting and analytics. The primary objective of a QA Engineer in Reporting is to support the Reporting and Data Warehouse team in both maintaining/improving current reporting as well as aiding in the migration from the current mode of log-based reporting to data-warehousing. Support in this area will cover being able to test the reporting aspects of specific site features from end-to-end, with major emphasis on back end data (ETL) validation. Additionally, you would be required to provide ongoing ad hoc support in investigating data issues found in production and logging thorough bugs. Of major importance will be validating Microstrategy and Webanalytics reports. Other duties will include assisting in post-production implementation validation and working with the team to develop processes for better testing data-warehouse and reporting projects
The ideal candidate will exhibit a high level of self-motivation and possess the ability to take full ownership of the entire reporting testing process. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must as they will be interacting with resources from every aspect of the company. In addition, you must be experienced in the complete testing cycle from formally inspecting requirements through executing and evaluating test cases and communicating the results. Finally, a natural curiosity and good understanding of data integrity will be the key to succeeding in this role.
Required Experience:
· Experience working with command-line Linux/Unix is required to manipulate log files.
· Experience with data manipulation techniques and data validation strategies.
· Experience developing SQL queries for back-end data validation in an Oracle.
· Experience with scripting languages (e.g. perl, shell, etc.) is preferred.
· Experience with Informatica, MicroStrategy, or any other ETL or OLAP tools desired.
· Previous experience with Omniture SiteCatalyst for web analytics is helpful.
This Job Requires the Following Skills:
- BS in Statistics, Business, or Computer Science or equivalent experience.
· 2- 3 years of testing or data analyst experience reporting systems or data warehousing.
