Yahoo Could Be Dropping API Access to PPC

The Web Analytics Association is gravely concerned with the allegations that Yahoo! is going to withdraw API access to web analytics vendors, and other third-party companies that manage online ad spend. The people, who pay to advertise, are the ones who are keeping the lights on at Yahoo! and have the right to hold Yahoo accountable for their investment. Yahoo! has placed their customers into jeopardy by not allowing access to their own data as reported by an objective third party application. Yahoo admits they won’t tamper with individuals access to the API, but many individuals and companies rely on these third party solutions to analyze their spend and its effectiveness. As one of the definitive authorities on all things related to SEM, Danny Sullivan said “Both Yahoo! and Google (and MSN to come) need to fully embrace search marketing agencies and others as their friends, rather than competitors. That's because in the end, none of them individually is going to be trusted to do purchases on other properties.” The question remains: Why is Yahoo not willing to be accountable?
