Membership

  1. Can anyone join WAA, and what types of companies and individuals belong to your organization?

    Anyone with an interest in Web Analytics or Digital Marketing and a desire to help further the industry can join WAA. This includes practitioners, consultants, students, educators, vendors and members of the general public.

  2. Why should I join WAA?

    The most common reason current members have joined has been to influence the future growth of the digital marketing industry. Additionally, members join because they want to increase the profile of Web Analytics and the profession. Membership with WAA also offers valuable benefits such as exclusive access to research, discounts to industry events, the ability to post job listings and r&eacut;esumés under Jobs and Careers, a listing in our online Member Directory, local networking opportunities, social media groups, etc.

  3. Are there any wrong reasons for joining WAA?

    Membership in the organization is not a certification of any kind, so please make this consideration before supporting WAA through membership.

  4. What are the different levels of membership?

    WAA offers three types of membership to allow accessibility of various levels:

    1. Premier Corporate Members: Offered to organizations that wish to receive advanced membership benefits at the Corporate level. To learn more about our Premier Corporate membership, click here (link to FAQ’s for corp members)
    2. Professional Members: For industry practitioners, vendors and consultants in the web analytics industry. This membership is at the individual level
    3. Academic Members: For faculty or students teaching or enrolled in an accredited academic institution or continued education classes full-time.

  5. I am enrolled in the UBC Award of Achievement in Web Analytics, do I qualify for the Academic Membership?

    WAA offers our members discounted rates to the UBC courses; however, the courses do not meet the criteria for Academic membership as they are not full-time. You must provide faculty or student I.D. to validate your current employment or enrollment with your educational institution. Membership is contingent upon receipt of this verification.

  6. If I am not a WAA member, why do I have a login to the WAA site?

    The WAA allows non-members to register to our site to receive additional information, this is free to the public and you are considered a Site Registrant. Membership to WAA incurs a yearly fee; if you have not paid a fee for your access you are restricted from certain portions of the site.

  7. What benefits do WAA members receive?

    WAA often reevaluates the benefits offered to its members to ensure relevancy and to keep up with the organization’s growth. As the organization matures, the offerings from third parties increase and we are happy to relay those to our membership. Some examples of WAA Member Benefits are:

    1. Member Directory Listing: One of the most popular areas of the WAA website for members only is the Member Directory. WAA members may write a custom description and link to their website along with other contact information, which is also made available to the Public.
    2. Discounts: Members can receive discounts on a number of industry events including OMS, SES, SMX and the eMetrics Marketing Optimization Summit- the official Summit of the WAA!
    3. Job Board: The Job Board is for WAA members to post jobs that are available in their company or to post their availability to offer services. Anyone reading the job list can contact that company regarding the employment opportunity. Non-members are able to post jobs for a fee.
    4. Member Meetings: Informational meetings that give members an opportunity to mingle with other members, sponsors, and industry leanders.
    5. Committees and Special Interest Groups: The WAA committees include Education, Membership, Research and Standards. In addition, WAA offers members the opportunity to create Special Interest Groups, such as our Public Sector Group.

  8. Do you rank your members or give referrals?

    It is WAA’s policy to remain vendor neutral. If you are looking for a WAA member to provide services, please visit our Public Directory or visit our Premier Corporate Members page.

  9. How can I network with other WAA members?

    Being involved with one of WAA’s Committees, is the best way for you to network with other members. WAA also hosts meetings and networking gatherings during many industry events globally.

WAA’s Job Board & Résumés

  1. Can I post a job on your site if I’m not a member?

    Yes, non-members may post jobs at a $250 fee for a 3-month listing. Premium listings which are featured more prominently cost $300 for non-members.

  2. Once I am a WAA member, is there a fee for job postings and is there a limit to how many jobs we can post?

    Once you are a WAA member there is no fee for regular job postings and there is no limit to the number of listings you can post. Premium listings do incur a $100 fee for members.

  3. Can I post my resume on WAA’s site?

    Yes, any WAA member with a user account is welcome to post their résumé.

  1. When was WAA founded?

    Three founding members, persuasion architect Bryan Eisenberg, web analytics consultant Andrew Edwards and web strategy consultant Jim Sterne expressed the need for an independent web analytics organization in the lobby bar of the 2003 eMetrics Summit in Santa Barbara. Engaging Seth Romanow from HP, search marketer Andrea Hadley, and web analytics executives Rand Schulman (WebSideStory) and Greg Drew (WebTrends), the first Board of Directors’ meeting was held in Portland, Oregon in the Summer of 2004.

  2. What is WAA’s legal status?

    WAA is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization; Federal Tax ID #20-1324018. The organization is a 501(c)(6) chartered in the state of New York.

Governance

  1. Are meetings of the WAA Board of Directors open to the public?

    Board of Directors Meetings are not open to the public, however minutes from Board meetings are posted on WAA’s site for public review.

  2. How are Board of Directors decisions communicated to the membership?

    Members are kept informed about WAA news, initiatives, and benefits via dedicated email blasts, postings on www.WebAnalyticsAssociation.org and our monthly newsletter. We also host member meetings at both the October and May eMetrics Marketing Optimization Summit – the Official Summit of the WAA – events to relay information about the organization’s accomplishments, awards banquet, and other relevant news. WAA also holds an Annual General Meeting yearly in or around June to introduce the new Directors to the membership as well as to review any Bylaws amendments, financial information and to provide a membership overview.

  3. How can I get a seat on the Board of Directors?

    WAA’s Directors serve two-year terms and are elected by the membership. Each WAA member in good-standing is welcome to run for a Board seat during the election period.

  4. Who elects the Board of Directors?

    WAA’s Board consists of 12 volunteers – all WAA members. There is a Board election every year, with the candidates being nominated and voted for by WAA’s membership. Officers are then elected in a separate vote by the Directors.
